Work Order/Service Request vs Project and Space Requests

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A WORK ORDER/SERVICE REQUEST AND A PROJECT  or SPACE REQUEST?

WORK ORDERS/SERVICE REQUESTS are:

  • Building related
  • Hanging whiteboards in offices and classrooms
  • Hanging pictures in residences
  • Maintenance
  • Repairs
  • Utilities
  • Custodial services
  • Elevator maintenance
  • Trash and recycling
  • Landscaping
  • Lawn care
  • Leaf and snow removal
  • THE ABOVE ARE GENERALLY FUNDED BY FACILITIES' BUDGET
  • Furniture moving
  • Event setup
    • FURNITURE MOVING AND EVENT SETUP ARE NOT FUNDED BY FACILITIES' BUDGET

PROJECT AND SPACE REQUESTS are:

  • Office, lab or classroom renovations/improvements
  • Alterations
  • New construction
  • Specialized equipment
  • Installation
  • Space allocations
  • Future faculty space planning
  • Large-scale campus planning
  • Capital projects
  • PROJECT AND SPACE REQUESTS ARE NOT FUNDED BY FACILITIES' BUDGET

 

TEMPORARY SPACE REQUESTS are for well defined, time-limited space assignments.  Temporary space assignments are filled for one year or less.  Uses for temporary space include artwork, built structures, pavilions, tents, plantings and grant funded student projects.  Spaces can be renewed yearly with a new request, but if another permanent use for the space is request and approved, the temporary space approval will be revoked.  Permanent will take precedence over temporary.

 

To make a project or space request, email inspaces@lehigh.edu or click of the PROJECT AND SPACE REQUESTS link on our website to obtain a request form.  Please specify whether you need a space request form, a temporary space request form, or a project request form.  After filling out the form, obtain signatures from your your department faculty advisor and dean or your supervisor for approval.  Send the form back to us via email at inspaces@lehigh.edu or via campus mail to the attention of the Logistics Coordinator. 

We will review all space and project requests in a timely manner and contact you as soon as possible to discuss the best way to proceed.
