What is Transportation Demand Management - TDM?
TDM is the application of our goals, strategies, policies and procedures to reduce the number of vehicles arriving and parking on campus by means of promoting alternative methods of travel, thereby reducing greenhouse gas emission levels and decreasing the impervious ground cover on our three campuses.
Lehigh University’s Goal
The Lehigh University Sustainability Plan for TRANSPORTATION Services is to optimize fuel efficiency and mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions of our vehicles and bus services by optimizing bus routes and developing a plan for vehicle and bus replacement. Increase by 10% the number of employees that use one or more of the following options as their primary means of transportation to and from campus: carpooling, walk, bike, public transportation or telecommute.
TDM Strategy for Implementation
· Improve and integrate on-campus transit system (GO LEHIGH)
· Promote walking and biking as means of transportation on and off campus (Zagster)
· Encourage the usage of Public Transportation (LANTA)
