Technology and F&A

If there’s one thing within F&A that never stands still, it’s technology.  Every department within F&A is constantly looking for ways to use various forms of technology to improve the services we provide to our customers.  I was asked to keep this article brief, so here are just a very few examples of technology initiatives that have recently been undertaken by departments within F&A, and there are many others in process…

  • In December, a new web based reporting tool, the Finance Dashboard, was made available to over 1,000 users on campus who have responsibility for managing the budgets and finances
  • The Controller’s Office recently announced that beginning in July, financial reports previously distributed on paper via campus mail, will now be distributed as pdf attachments to email
  • Access Control recently implemented a new key management system
  • The Bursar and Treasurer’s Office implemented the Touchnet Marketplace to provide campus departments a web based tool for selling goods and services online and accepting credit card payments
  • Parking Services implemented a new way of paying for parking at meters on campus and in the Zoellner parking garage
  • The GoldPlus (now IDEAL) office, implemented a web based system for parents and students to add funds to their GoldPlus accounts
  • Last November, Human Resources implemented a new online benefits enrollment process 
  • Residential Services continues to improve the student experience related to the housing application process utilizing new software they acquired
