Rising Second year students are guaranteed housing.
Students are often interested in knowing what their chances are of getting the type of housing they want. Unfortunately, there is no way to know this information for sure. Each year, a variety of factors affect who is able to select exactly what they want:
- It is not possible to determine what the people with lower lottery numbers will select. Some years, single bedrooms are the first to go; other years, the apartments will be gone immediately.
- For rising 2nd year student, the housing selection configuration impacts apartment selection.
- For rising 3rd, 4th, & 5th year students, the class size of the incoming 1st year class and rising 2nd year class impacts how many spaces are available for Upper Class students.
If living with certain people is important to you, it is best to plan ahead:
- Be sure you have the right number of people to fill a space. You cannot select a 4 person apartment without 4 people to move in.
- If you need roommates to fill a space, take advantage of My College Roommate.
- Have a backup plan in case you are not able to select your first choice. When you are ready to select, if your plan was to get a 4 person apartment but there are none left, perhaps you could select in pairs and try to select spaces close to one another.
- If you cannot find a roommate, select a single bedroom.
- If you end up not being able to select a space you like, you can remain on the Housing Placement List
What if I missed the Housing Process?
If you did not follow the Housing Process for any reason (e.g., eligibility, missed deadlines, etc.), there is no guarantee that you will get housing (except rising 2nd year students who are required to live on-campus). You should sign up on the Waiting List. Every effort is made to accommodate your housing request.
