Campus Mail Delivery Update

You are here

Through the month of March, you may have noticed that Courier Services piloted a once a day campus mail delivery on the Asa Packer campus.  While we remain committed to meeting your needs and trying to balance these expectations with the changing nature, frequency, and decreasing volume of campus mail, effective April 9th, 2018, couriers on all campuses will make one stop in each department to drop off and pick up campus mail.

Further, in an effort to be responsible stewards of Lehigh’s resources and to support our Campus Sustainability Plan 2020, the shift from two campus mail deliveries per day to one campus mail delivery per day produces the following benefits:

  • Reduction in miles traveled between campuses per year of 4,449 miles per year
  • Reduction in fuel consumption and fuel costs of $1,366 per year
  • Reduction in annual vehicle operating and maintenance costs of $4,414 per year
  • Reduction in CO2 emissions of 4.7 metric tons per year

The reduction in volume coupled with these financial and environmental benefits were significant contributors to the decision to change the frequency of the campus mail deliveries.

Couriers will continue delivering printing orders from the Mountain Hawk Design and Print Center, picking up shredding and fulfilling campus deliveries.

We want to thank you for your patience during this transition as we further optimize these services and we will communicate any further changes or adjustments.
